Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC), Durgapur, has entered into a landmark partnership with UltraTech Cement Limited to set up a Centre of Excellence on campus, fostering innovation, skill development, and industry-academia collaboration.  

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed on 10th May 2025 in the boardroom of BCREC. Signatories included Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar, Principal of BCREC, and Mr. Biswa Bhusan Baral, Regional Head (Technical) of UltraTech Cement. This strategic agreement will remain in effect for a period of five years from the date of signing.  

The signing ceremony was graced by Mr. Tarun Bhattacharya,  General Secretary of Dr. B. C. Roy Society, Mr. Jernail Singh, Treasurer of the Society; Dr. K. M. Hossain, Vice Principal of BCREC; Dr. Sanjay Sengupta, Head of the Civil Engineering Department; and Mr. Amit Kotal, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering. Representing UltraTech Cement, Mr. Siddhartha Mahapatra,  Territory Sales Head, and Mr. Sk. Abdul Waresh, Technical Manager, Durgapur, Mr. Dewesh Tiwari, Regional Head, Marketing of UltraTech Cement were also present.  

The newly established Centre of Excellence aims to become a dynamic hub for knowledge exchange, research, and skill development. Through this collaboration, the Civil Engineering Department of BCREC, in association with UltraTech Cement, will organize cutting-edge training programs, technical seminars, workshops, and conferences focused on the latest advancements in construction technology and sustainable practices.  

Furthermore, the partnership will promote joint research and development initiatives in cement production, smart construction solutions, and sustainability. Leveraging interdisciplinary collaboration across departments at BCREC, this initiative seeks to address industry challenges and foster innovation in modern construction.
