MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

A warm greeting to all!

It gives me immense pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility to welcome you to Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur (BCREC)—an institution that has established itself as a respected name in engineering, technology and professional education.

Over the years, BCREC has grown through the collective commitment, hard work and vision of its faculty, staff, students, alumni and stakeholders. The strength of any institution lies not only in its infrastructure, but, more importantly, in its people, academic culture, research orientation and ability to respond to the changing needs of society and industry. With a strong team of experienced faculty members, modern laboratories and infrastructure, residential and sports facilities, BCREC provides a supportive environment for the holistic development of its students.

As we move forward, our vision is clear: to build an institution where academic excellence, practical skills, research, innovation and industry engagement come together to create globally competent and socially responsible professionals.

Academic excellence will remain at the heart of our journey. In today's rapidly changing technological environment, education cannot be confined to classrooms, textbooks or examinations. True education must develop the ability to think critically, solve problems, innovate and continuously learn.

Our faculty members are the backbone of this academic ecosystem. We shall continue to encourage faculty development, research, consultancy, interdisciplinary collaboration and professional engagement so that contemporary knowledge and emerging technologies become an integral part of teaching and learning.

The recognition received through NAAC accreditation and NBA accreditation of our programmes is an important milestone. At the same time, we consider accreditation not as an end, but as a commitment towards continuous improvement and higher standards.

Engineering education becomes truly meaningful when students are exposed to real engineering challenges. We will therefore actively expand collaboration with industries, R&D organisations, government agencies, premier institutions and technology companies. Our collaborations with organisations such as CSIR-CMERI and NHAI provide valuable opportunities for students and faculty to engage with real-world projects, understand professional practices and gain hands-on exposure.

We aspire to develop many more such partnerships where students can participate in live projects, design and development activities, consultancy, research and innovation, thereby transforming theoretical knowledge into practical solutions.

The future belongs to institutions that are prepared to explore beyond conventional boundaries. BCREC will therefore continue to promote research and innovation in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Robotics, Drones, Cyber Security, Smart Grid, GIS, intelligent agriculture and other multidisciplinary technologies.

A successful engineer should not only ask, “Can I build it?” but also, “Should I build it, for whom, and how will it benefit society?”

Our endeavour will be to develop professionals who combine competence with character, ambition with responsibility, and technological excellence with human values.
