AICTE has decided to establish IDEA (Idea development, Evaluation & Application) Lab in AICTE-approved institutions as a part of the mission ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ by the Government of India. The objective of this initiative is to encourage the students towards application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in a special type of laboratory. Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College is one among 49 such institutions all over the country, selected by AICTE for setting up this IDEA Lab jointly with AICTE in BCREC campus. The huge infrastructure, quality faculty and track records of BCREC were taken into consideration vis−a−vis other 204 colleges of the country by AICTE to approve this prestigious Lab in BCREC campus. IDEA Lab will provide a platform for the students across all the departments to develop the multi− disciplinary ideas which will be validated and assessed by the Faculty Mentors to test their feasibility to serve the local society. The IDEA Lab will support students of the college or neighbouring colleges/schools to generate, develop and commercialize their own innovative ideas through entrepreneurship and/or open innovation.
