The Department of Electrical Engineering, established in 2000, offers undergraduate (B.Tech in Electrical Engineering) and postgraduate (M.Tech in Power System Engineering) programs. The department has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in 2008, 2022, and 2025, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence.

Faculty members are actively engaged in cutting-edge research across diverse domains including Renewable Energy, Smart Grids, Non-linear Control and Optimization, Reinforcement Learning, Digital Signal Processing, Analog VLSI, Internet of Things, Blockchain Technology, and Biomedical Instrumentation. These efforts have resulted in significant research contributions published in high-impact journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Access, Journal of Energy Storage, Expert Systems with Applications, and other leading journals from Elsevier, Springer, and Wiley.

In the last academic year alone, the department extensively published research papers and filed multiple patents. The departmental faculties have secured several external consultancy projects. Faculty members hold editorial positions reputed SCI/Scopus-indexed journals, including Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), the Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers (World Scientific), and the Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Wiley).

Furthermore, the departmental faculty maintains strong international research collaborations with institutions such as Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic), Inonu University (Turkey), and Politecnico di Bari (Italy), fostering a global research outlook and academic exchange.

Two-day hands-on workshop on 'PCB and Circuit Design' was conducted by AICT Pvt. Ltd. (ISO 9001:2015 Certified) for 2nd and 3rd Year EE students from 17.2.2026-18.2.2026. 

 

INDUSTRY VISITS CONDUCTED IN AY 2025-26

1. One-day visit to Supreme Industries was conducted on 13.01.2026 for 3rd Year EE students.

2. One-day visit to Matix Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd., Panagarh, was conducted on 14.02.2026 for 3rd Year EE students.

Electroquest is a departmental magazine of Electrical Engineering, operative since 2020, that highlights innovative technical ideas, creative designs, photography, paintings, etc., by the students and faculty to showcase their extra-curricular talent.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

Till AY 2024-25:

PEO1: To empower students with a comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills to solve real life problem in the domain of electrical engineering and provide a conducive environment to ignite the creative minds to develop some state-of-the-art tools and technologies.

PEO2: To keep the students abreast with current trends and future frontiers of emerging technologies in order to adapt under changing industrial environment.

PEO3: To follow the professional code of conduct, inculcate values and ethics and to know the norms of financial management.

PEO4: To develop sound communication skills and to promote a cooperative spirit to work in group and also to motivate and support students towards startups and entrepreneurship by getting a startup club/chapter in department.

From AY 2025-26:

PEO1 (Technical Competence): Graduates will demonstrate strong theoretical understanding and practical competence in core areas of Electrical Engineering—such as power systems, electrical machines, control systems, and power electronics—and will be able to identify, analyze, and solve real-world engineering problems using modern tools, simulation platforms, and laboratory practices.

PEO2 (Professional Growth & Technological Adaptability): Graduates will adapt to evolving industrial trends and emerging technologies including renewable energy systems, smart grids, electric vehicles, and automation by engaging in continuous learning, professional training, certifications, and higher studies.

PEO3 (Ethics, Professionalism & Financial Awareness): Graduates will exhibit ethical conduct, professional responsibility, and adherence to engineering standards while demonstrating basic financial and project management awareness in engineering practice and organizational settings.

PEO4 (Communication, Teamwork & Entrepreneurship): Graduates will demonstrate effective communication skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work productively in multidisciplinary teams, while showing the motivation and capability to pursue entrepreneurship, innovation, and participation in incubation or startup initiatives.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

Till AY 2024-25:

PSO 1: Identify, formulate and solve various real time problems of Electrical Machines, Power System, Control System, Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, Microprocessor, Digital Signal Processing and other interdisciplinary subjects with the knowledge of basic science and engineering science as prerequisites, design various types of machine and power system components with cost minimisation, explain Indian Electricity Rules, Energy Acts for safety of society, tarrif and energy savings.

PSO 2: Perform laboratory experiment in a group using various electrical technilogies, both modern hardware and software tools like MATLAB, ETAP, Mi-Power, PSpice used in industry and prepare reports tabulating & analysing the results/ data drawing the circuit disgram & graphs to enable the documentation capability and solve engineering problems using programming languages like C, C++, JAVA which will help them in being recruited by software industries.

PSO 3: Carry out project on new age technologies like renewable energy sources, power quality, energy management/savings, smart grid, wireless system, automatic control system, embedded systems based on modern technologies like IoT and defend their project work in front of experts which help in developing the capability of doing team work, satisfying the requirement of the present day working environment.

PSO 4: Communicate, write term paper integrating various information in standard format to that of a research paper for effective & life-long learning, present seminar on recent developments in engineering & technology, fulfilling social, behavioural, managerial, ethical & cultural requirements. 

From AY 2025-26:

PSO1: Domain Knowledge and Technical Proficiency

Graduates will be able to identify, formulate, and analyze real-world problems in Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Control Systems, Power Electronics, etc., and allied interdisciplinary areas using fundamental principles of science and engineering. They will be competent to design, model, and evaluate electrical components and systems considering efficiency, safety, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to relevant codes and energy regulations.

PSO2: Engineering Tools, Experimentation, and Modern Technologies

Graduates will be proficient in performing experiments, interpreting results, and solving engineering problems using modern hardware and software tools and programming languages. They will be able to apply these tools in simulation, analysis, and industrial practices to develop innovative and practical solutions.

PSO3: Innovation, Research, and Lifelong Learning with Ethical and Societal Responsibility

Graduates will be capable of conducting projects and research in emerging areas such as Renewable energy, Electric Vehicle, Smart Grid, AI-ML, Automation, etc. They will demonstrate effective teamwork, communication, documentation, ethical responsibility, and a commitment to lifelong learning to address societal, environmental, and professional challenges.

Till AY 2024-25:

PO 1 (Engineering Knowledge): Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to this solution of complex engineering problems in Electrical Engineering.

PO 2 (Problem Analysis): Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex Electrical Engineering Problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO 3 (Design/development of solutions): Designsolutions for complex Electrical Engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO 4 (Conduct investigations of complex problems): Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions in Electrical Engineering.

PO 5 (Modern tool usage): Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex Electrical Engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO 6 (The engineer and society): Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional Electrical Engineering practice.

PO 7 (Environment and sustainability): Understand the impact of the professional Electrical Engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO 2 (Problem Analysis): Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with  consideration for sustainable development.

PO 3 (Design/Development of Solutions): Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet 
identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. 

PO 4 (Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems): Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of 
experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions.

The Electrical Engineering Department (NBA accreditation in 2008, 2022 & 2025) offers a dynamic curriculum that is continuously updated to reflect current industry needs and emerging technologies. In light of the above, the design of a composite and portable device is the need of the hour. In this design we have designed a device inside of which there are two electrodes (cathode and anode) kept in a chamber where a constant supply of water is maintained along with the suitable electrolytes. With the help of a controlled voltage/current supply, the electrolysis of water is taken place and the molecular hydrogen is produced and that is filtered and taken out to one chamber. This chamber is connected to cannula through which any person can inhale (i.e. ingestion of molecular hydrogen) the molecular hydrogen and be relaxed from stress/diseases etc. Once the system is switched on , electrolysis is started and the voltage/current level is adjusted through the internal microcontroller based circuit for maintaining the flow /production of molecular hydrogen .The start/stop switch ,voltage /current setting knob and the display of the current/voltage level is very important and incorporated in the design .
