HORIZON 2K26 – Annual Tech Fest of BCREC held with fanfare

Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC), Durgapur, is organizing its Annual Two-Day Technical Fest “HORIZON 2K26” on 10th and 11th February 2026.

The fest was inaugurated by Mr. Surajit Mishra, Director-in-Charge (Burnpur & Durgapur Steel Plants), SAIL, the Chief Guest and Mr. Bimal Patwari, Co-Founder & CEO, Pinnacle Infotech, Durgapur who was the Guest of Honour of the Programme at Dulal Mitra Auditorium of BCREC.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar, Principal, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College. This was followed by an inspiring address by Dr. Satyajit Bose, President, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (Society), highlighting the importance of innovation, technical excellence and industry–academia collaboration.

The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were felicitated by Mr. Tarun Bhattacharya, General Secretary, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (Society), along with Dr. Satyajit Bose (President), Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar (Principal), Prof. Saikat Maitra, Chief Advisor, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (Society) and Mr. Jernail Singh, Treasurer, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (Society).

HORIZON 2K26 features a wide range of technical and creative events. Around 80 participants are showcasing innovative ideas through working prototypes in the Technical Model Exhibition. A Technical Quiz, conducted by a professional quiz master, is being held in the second half of the fest with participation from nearly 250 BCREC students. The Technical Poster Presentation event “Papyrus” has drawn close to 100 participants, presenting research and emerging technological concepts.

School students from several schools of Durgapur have enthusiastically participated with their scientific models demonstrating their remarkable scientific aptitude.

The fest has received participation from students of prestigious institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Durgapur and Asansol Engineering College, making HORIZON 2K26 a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and innovation.
