Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College organised a seminar on "Global ICT Industry Scenario, Indian Landscape and NASSCOM's Role in the Promotion of the IT/ITeS Industry in India" at its Dulal Mitra Auditorium as part of its Silver Jubilee Programmes.

The Chief Guest and the keynote speaker of the seminar was Shri Sanjay Chatterjee, Chair, NASSCOM, Regional Council, East. The Guest of Honour and another speaker of the seminar was Dr. Pradip Mukhopadhy, former Managing Director, Webel, Govt. of West Bengal.

Mr. Sanjay Chatterjee was felicited with Uttario and a college memento by Dr. Saikat Maitra, Chief Advisor of Dr. B. C. Roy Society and Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar, Principal, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, respectively. Dr. Pradip Mukhopadhy was felicitated by Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar with Uttario.

Dr. Maitra said to the students in his welcome address "Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College is bringing experts from several fields on the occasion of its yearlong Silver Jubilee celebration to interact with the students to grow entrepreneurship culture among the students". He also said "With the emerging new technologies several challenges are coming in service sectors. Students must be innovative to face that challenge ".

Mr. Sanjay Chatterjee explained to the students in an interactive presentation how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is emerging rapidly and spreading into every sector of production and Service. The scope of ICT has become very vast. He also explained how internet is being replaced with Power Line Telecommunation for the security of carrying large amount of Data. He explained the emergence of Deep Tech and said that Deep Tech is the future. He advised the students to be good in basic sciences like Physical Science, Chemistry and Mathametics. He informed the students the "Top Technology Trend for 2025". He said that ICT Industry of India is also growing. In last year IT export of India was 7.7 per cent. NASSCOM is preparing new talents in its incubation centre for entrepreneurship development and skill training for future growth of India. He said "India expects to be a global leader in ICT by 2030.

Dr. Pradip Mukhopadhy said with several analogies how Information Technology is meaningless without communication. Hence the name of Information and Communication Technology. He said communication must be timely to be effective.

After the interaction of several students with Mr. Sanjay Chatterjee vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar, Principal, BCREC.
