Administrative skills are sporadic traits that helps one complete tasks associated with the smooth functioning of an organization. This can include filing paperwork, meeting with internal and external stakeholders, providing critical information, implementing procedures, or responding to employee or customer inquiries. Administrative abilities are the skills that enable you to fulfill these obligations efficiently while maintaining a high level of quality. Both soft and hard technical skills are necessary for professionals working in administrative roles. While the technical abilities necessary for administrative duties individuals need soft skills or inter-personal skills to make the work done by other people. Any administrative work is a team-work and every professional, working in administration needs to have excellent team-playing skills. Along with this excellent verbal and non-verbal communication are also very much coveted in the nature of any professional. Administrative workers need to be very responsible for successful completion of any work. They need to make vigil of various clerical tasks to ensure that the staff can communicate and work efficiently. As I have loved the administrative works since a tender age, I have always enjoyed being associated with administrative activities. I have acted in following roles: 1. Anti-Ragging Nodal Officer,BCREC 2. Convener of the Anti-Ragging Committee, BCREC 3. Joint convener of the Disciplinary Committee, BCREC 4. Member of Student Redressal Committee, BCREC 5. Joint convener of Hostel Committee, BCREC 6. Joint convener of Student’s Council, BCREC 7. Member of NSS cell (Secretory Blood Donation), BCREC 8. Departmental Coordinator of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), BCREC 9. Joint convener of Students’ Affairs Committee (SWC), BCREC 10. Departmental Examination Coordinator, BCREC 11. Joint convener of Student Alumni Association Committee, BCREC 12. Institutional Library Coordinator, BCREC 13. Member of IQAC Cell, BCREC As a Computer Engineer by academic degree, I do have impending acquaintance of office management software like MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically). I do possess strong organization skills with a problem-solving attitude, an excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to details. I know that that any administrative officer needs to have solid knowledge of office procedures and he has to do the following activity in his office. He may have to manage office supplies stock and place orders, prepare regular reports on expenses and office budgets, maintain and update company databases, organize a filing system for important and confidential company documents, answer queries by employees and clients, update office policies as needed, maintain a company calendar and schedule appointments, arrange meetings if required, distribute and store correspondence (e.g. letters, emails and packages), prepare reports and presentations with statistical data, as assigned, sometimes has to arrange travel and accommodations, schedule in-house and external events. As a member of a prestigious institution, along with the academic excellence and experience I have the following administrative experience too: 1. I have communicated with regulatory authorities like AICTE, MHRD, MAKAUT, DTE as well as other external agencies local administration for various ragging/ discipline related issues. 2. I have organized meetings for anti-ragging committee and disciplinary committee as convener to prevent any incident ragging/indiscipline inside the campus and have made Minutes and distributed the same among other committee members. 3. I have issued notice for various academic and administrative purposes and have convened inter departmental meetings in connection with Redressal, discipline and anti-ragging. 4. I have been responsible for providing logistic support during any kind of extra-curricular activities like Blood donation Camp, annual sports and have provided back-up support with students’ details from students’ council. 5. I have recommended incurring expenditure in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Institute for necessary expenses in connection with Cultural fest and Tech Fest of the organization. 6. I have overseen the functioning and maintenance of hostels particularly during the odd hours as a part of students’ discipline. 7. I have interacted with hostel wardens in any time of crisis in the said part of the organization. 8. I have attended the meetings with the canteen food suppliers regarding menu along with the owners of the hostels. 9. I have been looking after the arrangement safety and security of the campus in times of emergencies and exigencies. 10. As a mentor I have talked frequently with students and their guardians and thus have acted as the correspondent of the Institute. Last but, not the least, I would like to mention one more point to these activities of mine. Taking a smooth class, handling the moods of the students and making them focused to the studies, attracting their attentions, motivating those students to return to the class next day really needs some charismatic effort and fortunately I have been doing this great job for almost seventeen years. With the above mentioned details I would say that I am very passionate about administration and if my passion becomes my profession, I surely excel in it and the organization also would get a good administrator for smooth functioning of the organization. |
